Single, duplicate and triplicate books
A single book contains individual sheets. Duplicate and triplicate books use multi-part sets to record the same information. Distinguish the number of sets in each book from the total number of sheets.
What is carbonless paper?
It transfers writing between sheets through compatible coated layers. The sheet order matters; ordinary office paper cannot replace one layer without checking the complete set.
Sequential numbering
Numbering can help control documents. Define the starting number, number of digits and whether it must repeat on every sheet in a set. Check for duplicates before production.
Perforation and binding
Perforation makes sheets easy to detach, while gluing or stapling holds the book together. If one copy remains in the book, specify which sheet is removed and which is retained.
Practical sizes
A4, A5, A6 and other sizes may suit different forms. Before reducing the format, ensure there is enough room for dates, amounts, signatures and notes.
