Custom clothing embroidery uses thread to reproduce names, symbols or logos on garments. It provides a different appearance from printed decoration, but the result depends on the fabric, stitch density and preparation of the artwork.
Before ordering: define the design size, intended use and production requirements.
What is custom embroidery?
It is a textile process that reproduces a design with stitches. It can be applied to workwear, uniforms, caps and other garments compatible with the equipment. Not every fabric responds equally well to embroidery tension.
Which garments can be embroidered?
Polo shirts, sweatshirts, jackets and caps are common applications. Position, seams and fabric thickness affect hooping and production. A very narrow area may not accommodate the required frame.
From logo to embroidery file
The design normally has to be digitised to define stitch types, directions and densities. A vector file helps preparation, but it is not itself a machine-ready embroidery programme.
What happens to small details?
Fine lines, very small lettering and complex gradients may need simplifying. Review the artwork at its final size and, where necessary, prepare a version adapted to the fabric and process.
Embroidery or screen printing?
| Process | How it is applied | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Embroidery | Thread and stitches | Fabric, size and density |
| Screen printing | Ink applied through a screen | Material and quantity |
| Transfer | Graphic applied using a compatible process | Adhesion and care |

Quotation and availability
Stitch count, quantity, placement and fabric affect production. Confirm whether embroidery is carried out in-house or by a production partner before committing to a deadline.
Frequently asked questions
Can any logo be embroidered?
Some logos require simplified details or adjusted colours.
Is embroidery always better than printing?
No. The right process depends on the fabric, design and intended use.
Is a special file needed?
Yes. Production requires a stitch file prepared for the embroidery equipment.
