Types of paper fan
Rigid fans with handles
These are die-cut pieces of board or a similar material with an integrated or attached handle. The artwork follows the selected shape.
Folding fans
Their construction includes folds and, depending on the model, other components. Artwork and tolerances differ from those of a rigid fan.
Which events can use them?
They are common at weddings, festivals, trade shows, promotional campaigns and warm-weather celebrations. Printed content can include schedules, small maps or brand messages, provided it remains legible.
Paper, board and durability
The material must retain its shape during use. Rigidity depends not only on grammage but also on thickness, composition and product construction.
A fan that is too flexible may be awkward, while one that is excessively heavy may be impractical.
How to design a legible fan
- Request the final die-line template.
- Keep essential elements inside the safe area.
- Prioritise the logo and a short message.
- Check the orientation while the fan is held.
- Review backgrounds, bleed and handle attachment points.
Single- or double-sided printing
The reverse can carry a programme, sponsor logos or contact details. Before approval, check how the fan turns in the hand and whether the reverse is correctly oriented.
