Corrugated plastic signs, also known as fluted or cellular polypropylene signs, are used for temporary signage, campaigns and some outdoor applications. Their lightweight panels contain internal channels, which affect stiffness and the direction of the material.
Before ordering a sign, define how it will be installed. A small panel fixed to a wall does not need the same thickness or reinforcement as a large piece mounted with cable ties.
First checks: finished size, thickness, flute direction, number of printed sides and mounting method.
What is corrugated polypropylene?
It is a lightweight plastic sheet with a cellular or fluted internal structure. Different thicknesses and mechanical properties are available depending on the manufacturer. Its low weight makes transport and some temporary installations easier.
It should not be confused with corrugated paperboard or with every other type of rigid display panel.
Uses in signage and advertising
- Property signs for sale or rent.
- Temporary event wayfinding.
- Promotional campaigns at points of sale.
- Provisional information signs at suitable facilities.
For outdoor use, assess the complete installation for wind, sunlight and the selected fixings.
How to choose the thickness
A thicker sheet may provide more rigidity, but performance also depends on the material, panel dimensions and flute orientation. Large pieces or signs exposed to wind need especially careful installation planning.
Direct printing or applied graphics?
Depending on the process, the image can be printed directly on the sheet or applied using a compatible self-adhesive film. Finish, quantity and surface properties help determine the most suitable production method.
Comparison with other rigid substrates
| Substrate | Distinctive feature | Typical use to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Corrugated polypropylene | Lightweight with internal flutes | Campaigns and temporary signage |
| Foamed PVC | Different solid-sheet structure | Indoor or outdoor graphics according to grade |
| Foam board | Very lightweight | Indoor exhibitions and presentations |
How to prepare artwork and mounting
- Define the trim size and orientation.
- Confirm whether holes are needed for cable ties or screws.
- Keep important content away from fixing areas.
- Specify printing on one or both sides.
- Approve the substrate and mounting plan before production.
Service life and maintenance
Durability depends on the sheet grade, ink, exposure and fixing system. It is not accurate to claim that every corrugated plastic sign is permanent or suitable for demanding conditions.

Frequently asked questions
Can corrugated plastic be printed on both sides?
Yes, subject to the equipment, size and production specification.
Is it suitable for property signs?
It is a common application when the thickness and mounting method suit the location.
Is it waterproof?
The plastic sheet behaves differently from paperboard, but the print, edges and fixing system must also be assessed.
